Overview

tiket.com lacks a Global Search feature, and our goal is to make travel discovery faster and more intuitive. This project bridges both needs by offering seamless exploration with relevant travel suggestions.

Benchmark of Global Search

Since tiket.com lacks a Global Search feature, we conducted a competitive analysis to understand user behavior and industry best practices.

Global Search is expected not only to help perform search but also to inspire by providing recommendations

Keywords users possibly search on global search

Based on our findings, here are the main keywords that are often used by our users. We separate it into three groups: Very important, important, and less important. And we also group it into our product verticals to inform the team.

User Objectives

Our research revealed that users use search for two main purposes: direct searching for specific results and exploring for inspiration. This insight helped us define distinct user needs and tailor the experience accordingly.

Framework: Diamond

A well-defined framework enhances collaboration and efficiency by streamlining communication and setting clear standards.

For this project, we developed the Diamond Framework, which guides users through three key stages: Starting → Exploring → Finding, ensuring a seamless and intuitive search experience.

Design Proposal

With a clear direction in place, we developed design proposals for the Global Search project, structured into two versions: before and after the Discover project.

For the homepage entry point, we introduced alternating text tied to our slogan and key verticals, such as Staycation in Bandung, Events in Jakarta, and Flights to Surabaya, making search more engaging and relevant to users.

Lessons Learned

This project taught me the importance of collaborating closely with engineers and the data team to ensure search results are both accurate and useful—because without reliable results, a search engine is ineffective.

Currently in development, the feature will launch on the tiket.com app in the coming months. I’ll update this article with data insights and usability testing results once it’s live!
